About The Position

The Pain Management team is looking for an energetic Medical Assistant. This is a close-knit team of providers, known for their innovative and non-traditional pain management techniques and support staff, that has a reputation for keeping and supporting teammate growth and education. This position is an MA float supporting approximately 20 providers primarily with the rooming of patients but this will definitely take you beyond what you learned in school! Showing interest and initiative will also earn the opportunity to learn specialized tasks essential toward growth opportunities. This is a great opportunity for an ambitious new grad or an experienced MA looking to learn a new specialty. Locations supported: North Milwaukee- Mayfair, Northwest clinic, Menomonee Falls, Good Hope, East Mequon, Hartford, Port Washington and Germantown. Schedule: Monday-Friday between 7:30am- 5:30pm Pay Range $21.85 - $32.80

Requirements

• Education IL/WI Divisions: High School Diploma or GED required. Completion of an accredited or approved program in Medical Assistant, or 2 years of verifiable full-time experience as a Medical Assistant within the last 5 years.
• Certification / License IL/WI Divisions: Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 45 days unless department leader has determined it is not required.
• Ability to perform routine and complex technical skills, within the Medical Assistant scope of practice after demonstrated competency.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to develop rapport and maintain positive, professional relationships with a variety of patients, team members and physicians.
• Proficient computer skills including keyboarding, navigation within a windows operating system, and use of electronic mail with exposure to electronic medical records systems.
• Demonstrates customer service skills that support a positive patient experience.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice, follows all policies and procedures, and maintains training and competency based on area of specialty when providing patient care.
• Performs rooming/visit tasks such as vital signs, medication reconciliation, medical history, health maintenance, allergy review, and screenings (depression, suicide, falls, social drivers of health, etc.).
• Assists provider with or performs procedures as ordered.
• Performs lab related duties such as venipuncture, specimen collection/labeling/packing, preparation of lab orders/requisitions, and results tracking.
• Point of Care testing (POCT) per standing order/provider order.
• Completes Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) approved waived laboratory tests and practice-specific diagnostic testing in adherence to CLIA standards.
• Administers medications and vaccines safely following the rights of medication administration.
• Performs other duties as assigned such as medication refills, insurance authorizations, safety/regulatory log completion, patient messaging, medication/supply ordering, appointment scheduling, and referrals.
• Cross trained to perform duties that are relevant to specialty or clinic practice within the scope of the Medical Assistant.
• Demonstrates effective and timely communication, teamwork, and appropriate escalation.
• Maintains a clean work environment ensuring instruments and equipment are cleaned appropriately.
• Ensures equipment and supplies are in working order, and areas are appropriately stocked.
• Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
• Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures.
• Age-specific information is developed further in the departmental job standards.
