About The Position

Supports patients and providers within the outpatient setting by performing basic direct patient care activities. The position involves providing basic patient care duties such as taking vital signs, weights, assisting patients with ambulation, dressing and undressing for examination, as directed by the provider and clinical supervisor. The role also includes assisting the provider in setting up for minor procedures, gathering supplies and equipment, applying aseptic dressings, and obtaining and accurately documenting patient information using the rooming tool within the electronic medical record. Additional responsibilities include completing medication reviews, accompanying providers during patient examinations, and reinforcing patient instructions to enhance understanding and adherence to treatment plans.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED) required.
  • Minimum of 1 year related work experience preferred.
  • Basic Life Support Certification within 6 months.

  • Certification as a Medical Assistant.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic patient care duties such as taking vital signs and weights.
  • Assist patients with ambulation and dressing for examination.
  • Assist provider in setting up for minor procedures and gathering supplies.
  • Obtain and document patient information using electronic medical records.
  • Complete medication reviews.
  • Accompany providers during patient examinations and assist as directed.
  • Reinforce patient instructions to enhance understanding and adherence.
  • Collect and prepare lab specimens and complete associated paperwork.
  • Report patient concerns and questions to appropriate care team members.
  • Report all patient safety incidents or issues immediately to supervisor.
  • Provide onsite service recovery as applicable.
  • Complete Midas reports as per policy.
  • Inventory and order supplies based on established inventory levels.
  • Check for expired items and remove expired supplies from inventory.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Clean and prepare exam rooms between patients.
  • Perform high level disinfection or sterilization per policy.
