About The Position

The Children’s Center of Hamden is seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Assistant to join our Nursing Department. In this vital role, you’ll help coordinate, support, and deliver essential medical services for children and adolescents across our programs. You’ll assist with exams, manage clinical documentation, maintain accurate medical records, and ensure timely access to healthcare services. Your work will directly support the health, safety, and well-being of youth in our care. Under the direction of nursing leadership, you’ll collaborate with clinical teams, communicate with families and providers, and uphold the highest standards of professionalism and confidentiality. Requirements

  • Medical Assistant degree required; LPNs also considered.
  • Experience in a healthcare or clinical setting preferred.
  • Strong clinical skills, accuracy in documentation, and knowledge of basic medical procedures.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and confidentiality practices.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and perform clinical tasks.
  • Comfortable working in a busy clinic with exposure to bodily fluids.
  • Must be able to safely drive youth to medical appointments as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a healthcare or clinical setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule medical and lab appointments and arrange transportation for youth.
  • Assist Licensed Providers with physical exams and basic clinical care.
  • Obtain and record vital signs; triage health concerns; prepare youth for exams.
  • Clean and dress wounds, check blood sugar, and support routine medical tasks.
  • Collect and send out lab samples.
  • Maintain accurate medical records, including allergies, medications, and doctor’s orders.
  • Keep clinic supplies, first aid kits, and emergency bags stocked.
  • Participate in treatment team and clinical meetings.
  • Serve as a liaison for admissions to 24-hour programs.
  • Support health education and training efforts.
  • Collect Quality Assurance data.
  • Perform additional duties as needed to support the Nursing Department.
