About The Position

Medical Specialists of the Palm Beaches is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant to support our clinical team. This temp-to-hire opportunity is ideal for a candidate who thrives in a fast-paced medical environment and is committed to delivering high-quality patient care. The Medical Assistant will assist physicians with patient examinations, perform triage and clinical assessments, and ensure patients receive appropriate education and follow-up care. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and able to build strong rapport with patients while maintaining accurate documentation and supporting efficient back-office operations. Familiarity with HMO insurance carriers and healthcare workflows is highly beneficial in this role.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1–2 years of experience in a medical office or healthcare setting preferred.
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant training program or certification from a trade school is a plus.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity with HMO insurance carriers preferred.
  • Experience with Athena EMR, CPT codes, and ICD-10 coding is helpful.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with physicians, staff, and patients.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate patient records.
  • Proficient computer and typing skills.
  • Ability to remain flexible, organized, and efficient in a dynamic clinical environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform patient triage and basic clinical assessments.
  • Obtain and record patient vital signs as required.
  • Assist physicians with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
  • Provide clinical support during in-office procedures.
  • Educate patients on treatment plans, medications, and physician instructions.
  • Assist with follow-up on diagnostic test results and communicate next steps to patients as directed by the physician.
  • Administer medications as prescribed and maintain accurate medication documentation.
  • Coordinate scheduling and obtain pre-authorizations for diagnostic tests such as CT scans, MRIs, and PET scans.
  • Maintain and update patient charts, records, and physician dictation.
  • Manage patient phone messages and follow up with appropriate actions when necessary.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized clinical environment.
  • Assist with lab work and X-rays if certified.
  • Monitor and order medical supplies as needed.
  • Perform additional clinical or administrative duties as assigned by the physician or practice manager.
