The Medical Assistant is essential during the patient visit, accompanying the dermatologist in the room and promoting a friendly and efficient environment for patients, staff, and dermatologists. This Medical Assistant position is based primarily out of our Lake Mary location. We are seeking a flexible associate who is available to work 40 hours per week. The ideal candidate is willing to travel to our Orlando and Winter Park locations as needed. Scheduling Details: Work hours fall between 6:30 AM and 7:00 PM. Shifts may vary within this time frame to ensure a full 40-hour workweek. Possible schedule formats may include: Two 12-hour shifts and two 6-hour shifts Four 10-hour shifts Five 8-hour shifts Work schedules are provided in advance and are based on operational needs. Flexibility is required. Requirements
- Minimum post high-school education in a medical support field: Certified Medical Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurse, or Registered Nurse (Non-Certified Medical Assistants will need to complete the Forefront Derm Tech certification program within the prescribed time period and maintain certification upon expiration).
- 1+ years of recent experience in a medical office in a similar capacity is preferred
- Must keep current on all state certifications, licenses and/or registrations to continue employment
- Must be willing to travel to other clinic locations as needed
- Proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office and Electronic Medical Record systems
- Must possess organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with staff, clients, and visitors
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize appropriately, and work well both individually and as part of a team
Nice To Haves
- Certified Medical Assistant, DERM Tech a plus
Responsibilities
- Rooming patients and documents all vital information
- Scribing information for the dermatologist
- Providing post op wound care to patients
- Drawing blood and suture removal
- Cleaning and stocking the exam rooms
- Scheduling patient appointments
- Assisting the dermatologist with procedures such as: Surgical photographs Biopsies – punch, DIF and shave Excisions Electrodessication and curettage I&D Mohs micrographic skin cancer surgery Phototherapy Injections Koh preps Trichograms Tzank preps Dermabrasion Patch testing Blue light
