Main Function: Provides overall clinical leadership, direction, and oversight to ensure high-quality, patient-centered primary care is delivered across the Family Medicine practices. Works collaboratively with practice leadership, nursing, administrative teams, and other departments to ensure coordinated, efficient, and accessible care for patients of all ages. Ensures smooth transitions of care between outpatient, specialty, and inpatient settings. Maintains an active clinical practice as a Family Medicine physician approximately up to 80% of the time, with the remaining effort dedicated to administrative and leadership responsibilities as Director. Responsibilities: Leadership of all areas of Family Medicine practice operations, unifying clinicians and staff toward shared and strategic goals. The Physician shall provide office-based Family Medicine, direct patient care and efficient operation of his/her practice. Leads by supporting ongoing development of associates, facilities, technology, equipment and clinical practice. Demonstrates flexibility and innovation in meeting patient and practice needs. Maintains comprehensive knowledge of Family Medicine, including principles of growth and development across the lifespan. Assesses patient needs based on age, functional status, and clinical complexity. Performs clinical supervision of medical staff. Provides significant input into annual performance appraisal. Performs chart review on all providers for purposes of medical staff credentialing. Responds to patient complaints medically. Reviews medical records, investigates issues, documents findings and gives appropriate feedback to provider. Initiates/participates in provider discipline process. Formulates policies and procedures and ensures provider compliance. Trains and oversees clinical orientation for newly hired providers. Originates call schedule as applicable. Helps to prepare providers for Joint Commission and regulatory audits. The Physician provides leadership and supports consistent integration of changes in Thompson Family Practice practices for all aspects of care, including clinical protocols, charting changes, billing procedures, electronic medical records, and laboratory and compliance requirements. Hours: Full Time, active Family Medicine physician approximately up to 80% of the time, with the remaining effort dedicated to administrative and leadership responsibilities as Director.
