About The Position

Kadiak LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, has multiple openings for qualified and experienced Medical Laboratory Technicians to support Kadiak and our government customer at Joint Base San Antonio, Lackland, TX. Requirements

  • Graduation from a medical laboratory technician training program accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES), or educational program acceptable to the American Medical Technologist (AMT)
  • Minimum of 12 months of experience within the past 36 months
  • Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT), or state licensure as a medical laboratory technician
  • Must be able to successfully pass a background investigation, and Criminal History Background Check (CHBC)
  • Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Workers by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Up to date on immunizations
  • Annual Flu immunizations are required

Responsibilities

  • Perform a full range of clinical laboratory tests in various sections including hematology, chemistry, cytology, histotechnology, urinalysis, serology, microbiology, and blood bank
  • Determine specimen suitability for analysis and prepare specimens accordingly
  • Prepare reagents and primary reference materials as necessary
  • Calibrate, standardize, adjust, and maintain laboratory instruments
  • Conduct quality control procedures on equipment, reagents, and products
  • Prepare specimens for transport or mail/ship out
  • Handle and dispose of biological waste properly
  • Report unusual or grossly abnormal test results to section supervisor, pathologist or laboratory supervisor
  • Perform light general cleaning of work areas
  • Assist in the preparation of laboratory reports
  • Record test results to flat logs and request slips and file reports in the MHS Genesis.
  • Accession and order laboratory testing in MHS Genesis for clinic patients.
  • Perform basic front desk administrative tasks, greet patients warmly, log-in lab orders, provide sample collection instructions, perform phlebotomy, and process patient samples for laboratory testing.
  • Verify correct instrument operation and identify/resolve common problems
  • Obtain and correlate analytical data
  • Maintain proper records for quality control and quality assurance reports
  • Report unusual or abnormal test results to supervisors
  • Screen/order officer training school accessions for required testing (JBSA-L specific)
