About The Position

Southern Coos Hospital & Health Center (SCHHC) is a Critical Access Hospital in Bandon Oregon. Our mission is "Quality healthcare with a personal touch". SCHHC has a per-diem, opening for either a Medical Laboratory Scientist (requires a Bachelor’s Degree) or a Medical Laboratory Technologist (requires an Associate Degree) in our Laboratory Department. The MLS or MLT collects, processes, and tests specimens submitted to the laboratory. The MLS or MLT is responsible for reviewing and reporting results on specimens tested in the Clinical Laboratory. The MLS or MLT performs quality assurance and maintenance on instruments, testing material, and equipment, as required. The MLS or MLT ensures proper identification of patients, specimens, Health Care Providers' orders, and other vital information. The MLS or MLT reports to the Manager of the Clinical Laboratory.

Requirements

  • Baccalaureate degree or associate's degree which meets National Certification Exam requirements required.
  • Meet CLIA 88 requirements as outlined in 493.1489 of the Federal Register Vol. 57, No. 40.
  • Maintains certification(s) of MT, MLS, and/or CLS.
  • Successful completion of the National Certification Examination.
  • Certifications must be kept current through continuing education if required. Documentation of re-certification must be presented to the Manager of the Clinical Laboratory and Human Resources.
  • Associate's degree which meets National Certification Exam requirements required.
  • Meet CLIA 88 requirements as outlined in 493.1489 of the Federal Register Vol. 57, No. 40.
  • Maintains certification(s) of MT, MLT, and/or CLS.
  • Successful completion of the National Certification Examination for MLT.
  • Certifications must be kept current through continuing education if required. Documentation of re-certification must be presented to the Manager of the Clinical Laboratory and Human Resources.
  • U.S. Citizenship: All applicants must be U.S. citizens or have proper authorization to work in the United States.
