About The Position

Responsible for the day-to-day administrative functions of the Wound Management Program. These include but are not limited to business, operations, clerical, patient billing and accounting functions, medical records management, reception, and patient scheduling. May supervise other office personnel. Reviews and interviews patients to collect and verify pertinent demographic, clinical and financial data. Obtains copies of relevant documents including physician orders and most recent insurance cards and where applicable verifies eligibility of insurance and obtains authorization for services as necessary. Collects required payments or makes necessary financial arrangements as appropriate for assigned work area. Performs order entry for tests as appropriate for assigned work area. Prepares and distributes appropriate reports, documents, and Patient Identification items and provides patient education in accordance with Federal and State Regulations. Assists in working reports and work lists to correct errors or identify and resolve missing information. Performs additional duties as assigned in a courteous and professional manner.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate
  • Computer skills to include ability to use word processing, data base, and spreadsheet software as well as the ability to navigate the Internet.
  • Ability to use common office equipment such as copier, fax, shredder.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum two years prior medical office experience preferred
  • Medical Accounts billing and coding experience desirable.
  • Transcription experience desirable.
