About The Position

The Medical Receptionist (Surgery Department) serves as the first point of contact for patients and visitors. This role supports front‑end clinical operations in a busy setting where accuracy, professionalism, and strong customer service skills are essential. All administrative and patient access functions are completed within EPIC, the practice’s single electronic health record (EHR) system.

Requirements

  • Medical receptionist experience (preferably in a specialty or surgical setting)
  • EPIC experience (scheduling, registration, verification, messaging)
  • Strong background in medical reception, front office, or patient access
  • Experience scheduling appointments and handling high‑volume calls
  • Ability to multitask, stay organized, and maintain professionalism under pressure

Responsibilities

  • Check patients in and out of clinic visits
  • Verify and update insurance, demographics, and patient documentation in EPIC
  • Collect and scan insurance cards and photo IDs
  • Process co‑pays, balances, and payments at time of service
  • Handle high‑volume, multi‑line phone calls
  • Maintain compliance and accuracy in all front‑desk workflows
  • Manage and prepare provider schedules
  • Schedule follow‑ups, post‑ops, and in-office procedures
  • Make appointment reminder and confirmation calls
  • Coordinate referrals and ensure required documentation is completed
  • Maintain accurate schedule information in EPIC
  • Ensure all documentation is complete within EPIC
  • Send task messages to clinical teams as needed
  • Support clinic flow by collaborating with medical assistants, nurses, and providers
