About The Position

Homestead Village is a thriving non-profit, CARF-CCAC accredited, Life Plan Community located just outside downtown Lancaster. We are seeking an enthusiastic & passionate Medical Records Technician to join our compassionate community as we enhance independence and dignity for all our Residents. Location - The Apostle Center for Care, 56-bed Skilled Nursing Facility Position/Schedule: Full Time; 8:00am-4:30pm; Monday-Friday

Requirements

  • Current CNA certification through the PA Nurse Aide Registry
  • Proficiency utilizing a PC, ability to effectively operate software programs utilized by the facility, and internet research capabilities.
  • Knowledge/experience of Medical Terminology including ICD-9 Coding.
  • Proficiency in typing and other clerical duties required.
  • Ability to organize and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of MDS assessments, and familiarity with Long Term Care regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years administrative experience, preferred.
  • Two years Medical Records experience, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain Policies and Procedures for Medical Records.
  • Enter updated medical records information into computer system or physical chart.
  • Prepare and maintain monthly data sheets and resident charts.
  • Conduct monthly chart review and perform CQI auditing including physician telephone orders and others as assigned by supervisor.
  • Thin charts.
  • Tabulate findings and communicate status of audits to supervisor.
  • Manage medical records requests.
  • Gather and correct placement of all admission information.
  • Prepare chart identification, room labels, and photographs upon admission.
  • Prepare medical forms, obtain hospital and/or resident medical records from previous physician’s office including immunization, recent physician notes, lab work and medication list.
  • Maintain Admission, bed hold, Admit/discharge tracker
  • Maintain current knowledge of long-term Care regulations as they relate to record keeping and utilize the Medical Records Consultant to facilitate compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Notify Director of Nursing of compliance concerns.
  • Assist in answering incoming telephone calls in a professional manner.
  • Ensure paperwork for previous month is completed by the 1 st week of the current month.
  • Coordinate records, forms, statements and information for long term care companies monthly
  • Coordinate resident appointments, transportation, and escorts.
  • Ensure appropriate paperwork is completed for appointment.
