Summit Orthopedics offers a structured Medical Scribe program designed for pre-medical students with a biology degree seeking meaningful clinical experience during their gap years before medical school. This program provides direct exposure to the orthopedic clinical environment and the opportunity to work closely with physicians and care teams. Medical scribes support physicians by documenting patient encounters in real time and assisting with clinical documentation in the electronic medical record. Through this role, participants gain firsthand insight into orthopedic diagnoses, treatment planning, and physician–patient interactions while observing the full scope of patient care. The ideal candidate is a motivated pre-medical student planning to apply to medical school who can commit to the program for approximately two years. This role will begin in May 2026 , offering approximately 30 hours per week , with hours that may vary. Scribes will rotate between our Bethesda and Washington, DC offices . Students who demonstrate strong performance and professionalism may be considered for a letter of recommendation from the physicians they work with to support their medical school applications.
