About The Position

Assists the Laboratory Supervisor in achieving efficient Laboratory operation by performing clinical tests. Supports laboratory testing services by performing specimen collection and processing, quality control and maintenance functions, and results reporting and verification. Participates in training and in-service programs to maintain and upgrade competency at the level required by the Supervisor as procedures are changed or added. Requirements

  • Licensed or eligible (application pending with a limited license in effect) as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in the State of New York.
  • Employees with a limited license must obtain full license within New York State guidelines.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology (hospital-based formal internship required) OR
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related science from an accredited college with subsequent relevant clinical laboratory experience for one year. Degree must include sufficient science and math credits to meet minimum NYSDOH requirements for a Technologist.
  • Graduate of an accredited MLT Program, who also meets requirement #4 above, the last year of which includes clinical training and a clinical internship, constitutes 6 months of relevant experience. A person hired with these qualifications would be required to be under the supervision of another MT or a supervisor for the first 6 months of employment.
  • As applicable, the individual has training/competency in attending to the special needs and/or behaviors appropriate to the age of the patients for which care is being provided.

Nice To Haves

  • ASCP, NCA or equivalent certification is highly recommended.
