About The Position

Medical Lab Scientist Full-time 1.0 FTE (80 hours per pay period) Days, Evenings, Nights. Every 3rd weekend rotation Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital Laboratory Department Job Summary: The Medical Lab Scientist performs medical laboratory tests, procedures, experiments, and analyses to provide data for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. Here's what you'll do when you join us: Understand and use scientific and technical language and symbols. Recognize slight differences in shape, color, and texture. Use eyes, hands, and fingers to operate delicate and sensitive equipment. Work precisely and accurately. Follow technical instructions which may be oral, written, or in the form of charts or drawings. Use measurable and perform medical laboratory tests, procedures, experiments, and analyses to provide data for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease verifiable information for making decisions or judgments. Collects and processes all specimen types to include esoteric testing. Competent with the LIS and HER systems. Completes annual competency. Participates proficiency testing. Follows all quality control and patient reporting processes. Resolution of technical problems in accordance with policies and procedures established for the department.   • Completion of Medical Lab Science internship.
  • Eligible for ASCP or equivalent (must obtain within 12-months of hire) required.
