Position Summary: This technician reports to the engineering manager, and the technician will perform product safety testing and evaluation of electrical and electronic equipment in accordance with national and international standards. These standards include, but are not limited to, UL/CSA/IEC 62368-1, UL/CSA/IEC 61010-1, UL/CSA/IEC 60335-1, UL/CSA/IEC 60601-1. The technician will support engineers in conducting certification testing, documenting results, and providing this test data to the engineers. This role also involves hands-on laboratory work including usage of electrical test equipment. This role also may require lifting heavy items from time to time.3

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in a technical field (electrical engineering, technology), minimum Bachelor's in Engineering, preferred
  • Prior work experience in a NRTL preferred
  • Minimum 1-3+ years basic experience in a test laboratory, mandatory
  • Understanding how to use basic lab equipment (multimeter, power tools, data loggers, hi pot tester)
  • UL/CSA/IEC 62368-1, UL/CSA/IEC 61010-1, UL/CSA/IEC 60335-1, UL/CSA/IEC 60601-1
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office tools (word, excel)
  • Knowledge of basic electrical fundamentals (Ohm's Law, voltage, current, resistance, what AC vs DC voltage is)
  • Knowledge on how to properly interpret test plans and perform testing given by engineers
  • Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds if necessary
  • Ability to work around energized electrical equipment under controlled lab conditions working at test benches for extended periods of time

  • Input power
  • Mechanical and stability tests
  • Equipment and Lab Support
  • Maintain and work with calibration partners to have our equipment in calibration
  • Troubleshoot equipment with engineers
