Position Summary This position requires becoming proficient in performing duties related to new service and billing for electric service and solving member requests. Greets all NEC visitors in a courteous manner thereby promoting the public image of the Cooperative. Visitors are given immediate assistance to resolve their request or complaint in a manner satisfactory to the visitor and NEC. This position is part of a team that utilizes member care and telephone systems to provide excellent customer service to cooperative's member/consumers. This position creates service orders, updates customer contact information through customer information systems. Supports the member care team and works as a backup cashier/receptionist when needed. Processes customer payments, refunds, and charges, as appropriate. Position is required to advance to Member Care Rep II level within specified timeframe. Position will require travel to outer offices/service centers on an as needed basis.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (combination of education and experience)
  • Prior customer service experience (2 years)
  • Strong computer literacy skills to include Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Excel & Word)
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks accurately
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong customer service skills with a genuine desire to help others
  • Ability to assess and resolve member inquiries or service-related issues using sound judgment
  • Cash handling skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a utility customer service call center preferred
  • Experience with Customer Information Systems (CIS)
  • Associate degree

Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist members in person and by phone, providing accurate information and resolution for inquiries.
  • Maintain availability in the Member Care phone queue
  • Monitor and respond to all incoming communications within established timelines
  • Process and post daily payments from all sources
  • Explain billing statements and investigate high-bill complaints using provided tools
