About the position

The Member Owner Services Assistant is responsible for assisting Member Services in managing member data systems and promoting memberships at the Co-op. This role contributes to the positive public image and growth of the co-op through effective membership programs, outreach activities, events, and operational support.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver exceptional customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Support member-owner services, including database management, benefits administration, and new member orientation.
  • Coordinate and promote member programs, including member worker volunteers, Co-op Cares, Community Links, and Art in the Cafe.
  • Provide in-store customer service to answer members' questions and concerns.
  • Support the planning, coordinating, and executing of the annual membership meeting, council elections, and member events.
  • Track and generate membership reports, including monthly equity refund requests and member discounts.
  • Provide administrative support to the General Manager and Co-op Council, including notetaking at monthly meetings.
  • Answer customers' questions and concerns by monitoring the general Co-op email address, social media comments/direct messages, and comment cards.
  • Update and maintain the Co-op's online community calendar.
  • Oversee and maintain the exit way's bulletin boards, rack cards, and periodicals.
  • Process community donation requests and community tabling requests.
  • Coordinate and support community workshops.
  • Assist with the planning, coordinating, and executing special Co-op events.
  • Coordinate and participate in school visits and on-site tours.
  • Promote Co-op membership off-site at community events.
  • Participate in off-site presentations.
  • Support in-store vendor demos as needed.
  • Participate in weekly planning meetings with the Community Relations team.
  • Meet expectations of regular, predictable attendance.
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures of Hunger Mountain Co-op.
  • Provide excellent service to customers, vendors, and coworkers and abide by Hunger Mountain Co-op's Service Policies.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and professional demeanor.
  • Outstanding written, listening, and interpersonal skills.
  • Accurate data entry skills and experience with database management.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365, especially Excel.
  • Attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills with the ability to multitask to meet deadlines.
  • Work well with others in a cooperative environment where teamwork and constant communication are essential.
  • Experience with social media platforms.
  • Experience with WordPress.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior event planning experience.
  • Previous supervision of volunteers.
  • Familiarity with our mission and the cooperative principles.
  • Knowledge of local food systems and current trends in the natural food industry.
  • Familiarity with our local community, including government and community organizations.
