About The Position

Wisconsin Public Radio and PBS Wisconsin are seeking a Membership Services Specialist to join the team of dedicated individuals responsible for providing exemplary stewardship and service to the members and audiences of Wisconsin Public Radio and PBS Wisconsin. The Membership Services Specialist will report to the Membership Services Manager and is part of the Wisconsin Public Radio and PBS Wisconsin Membership team. The Membership Services Specialist will collaborate on executing and developing practices and workflows in our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database that will support an exciting future for public broadcasting in Wisconsin. A day in the life of a Membership Service Specialist includes but is not limited to: direct phone communication with our donors and audience members, working with colleagues across the development team to reach fundraising goals, processing financial transactions, fulfilling thank you gift requests, and serving as the voice of our organizations. This position is Ongoing/Renewable. This is a full-time position that works core business hours, Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required for on-air fundraising drives, held 5-6 weeks per year and other special events. This position works at Vilas Communication Hall on the UW-Madison campus with the option of working partially remote in a hybrid schedule. Some work may be performed remotely, at an off-site, non-campus work location. During the initial three-month training period, on-site work is required. The final schedule can be discussed in the offer stage, but fully remote candidates will not be considered. Remote work requires an approved flexible work arrangement (FWA). A FWA requires successful candidates to possess their own high-speed internet and phone to perform the work on a university provided computer. Per University policy, transportation between home and assigned work location is not payable/reimbursable and will be at the expense of the employee. This position requires the ability to sit or stand at a desk and use a computer, keyboard, and mouse for several hours at a time and occasionally lift and carry heavy supplies up to 30lbs. Supplies can include boxes of merchandise, print materials, and event furniture (tables, chairs, easels).

Requirements

  • Established work history in one-on-one customer relationship building
  • Experience working with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) type databases with a strong ability to interpret donor data and communicate insights effectively to fundraising and stewardship teams
  • Fluency in Excel and other Microsoft products
  • Ability to work independently, while still meeting hard deadlines

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in accounting or accounts receivable
  • Accurate and efficient data entry skills
  • A work history that involved running queries using tools such as SQL
  • Experience working in Public Media or non-profit development

Responsibilities

  • Processes financial transactions, following established policies and procedures to ensure accurate recording, reporting, and reconciliation
  • Troubleshoots technical and collaborative functions to maximize the efficiency and efficacy of the unit
  • Collaborates with colleagues to contribute to unit planning and strategy
  • Manages the fulfillment and distribution process for donors or customers
  • Analyzes financial and/or inventory data, reports and records, identifies discrepancies, investigates, recommends, and implements basic solutions as needed
  • Engages in, or oversees training, answers questions, and serves as a resource to the unit
  • Serves as a point of contact to members and colleagues and assists with inquiries in accordance with established fundraising best practices, policies, and procedures, either on the phone or in person
