About The Position

Girl Scouts of Southern Arizona is seeking a results-driven Membership Specialist to lead recruitment efforts that expand girl and adult membership across Pima County. This position is responsible for proactive outreach, lead conversion, community engagement, and volunteer recruitment in support of council membership goals. The Membership Specialist plays a critical role in driving access to the Girl Scout Leadership Experience by cultivating relationships, guiding families through registration, and supporting the development of sustainable troops. This is an outreach-focused role requiring consistent follow-up, strong communication skills, and comfort working toward measurable growth targets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • Experience in sales, recruitment, admissions, community outreach, nonprofit engagement, or lead conversion strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct outbound outreach and manage follow-up processes
  • Strong presentation and public speaking skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as required for events
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Proven Goal Achievement: Two years of sales or recruiting experience with a demonstrated ability to set, track, and meet/exceed membership and recruitment goals.
  • Proven ability to exercise initiative, independent judgment and common sense in determining priorities and carrying out essential tasks
  • Strong initiative, independent judgment, and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to work effectively with people of diverse racial, ethnic and economic backgrounds and promote an inclusive environment

  • Flexible, self-directed, and capable of handling multiple demands.
  • Capable of working under pressure and handling multiple demands/heavy volume
  • Willingness and ability to work nights and weekends, with significant time spent outside the office.
  • Ability to travel as job requires
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. regularly, up to 50 lbs. occasionally, sit, bend and reach, throughout the shift and be active in supporting programs and events
  • Willingness to work in a flexible work environment, including satellite property, offsite from home office, public spaces or other location as the job requires
  • Possess the character, skills, and ability to be a positive role model for girls and adults.
  • Ability to successfully pass a Background Check and/or obtain an Arizona Fingerprint Card
  • Daily access to automobile in working condition or adequate alternative transportation.
  • Proof of meeting Arizona State requirements regarding auto licensing, driver’s license, and liability insurance, if applicable

Responsibilities

  • Membership Recruitment and Growth Conduct proactive outreach to prospective girl members and adult volunteers via phone, email, text, and in-person engagement
  • Manage and track a pipeline of inquiries generated through school visits, events, digital platforms, and community partnerships
  • Ensure timely and consistent follow-up to convert leads into registered members
  • Guide families and volunteers through the registration process, including use of council systems
  • Meet established membership growth and conversion goals
  • Community Engagement and Events Plan, coordinate, and execute girl and adult recruitment events in schools and community settings
  • Represent Girl Scouts of Southern Arizona at school functions, community fairs, networking events, and public gatherings
  • Deliver clear and engaging presentations to families and community stakeholders
  • Collaborate with school administrators and community partners to secure recruitment opportunities
  • Volunteer Recruitment and Support Recruit and onboard new troop leaders and volunteers in alignment with council standards
  • Provide first-year leader guidance and connect volunteers to appropriate resources and training
  • Support troop sustainability efforts and assist in addressing challenges with professionalism
  • Data Management and Reporting Maintain accurate records in Salesforce and other council systems
  • Track outreach activity, event participation, and membership metrics
  • Submit required reports and updates in accordance with council timelines
  • Ensure compliance with safety policies, background screening procedures, and confidentiality standards
