THE ROLE: This is an exciting opportunity for a Memory Systems Architect within the Client and Graphics Engineering team at our Austin site. Our team's mission is to develop cutting-edge memory subsystem solutions that accelerate next-generation computing experiences for PCs, gaming, data center, artificial intelligence, and embedded products at AMD. This memory architect will take lead and drive the work with internal engineering teams and external partners in defining and evangelizing advanced features in memory architectures for LPDDR5x/6, DDR5, GDDR6/7 systems coming to the market for use in leading edge AMD SOC's. The team fosters and encourages continuous technical innovation to showcase successes as well as facilitate continuous career development. THE PERSON: We are seeking someone with strong communication and analytical problem‑solving skills who learns quickly and embraces new challenges. The ideal candidate is a self‑starter capable of working independently while staying focused on the success of the broader product. They should bring a continuous‑improvement mindset, always looking for ways to make systems stronger, better, and faster.

Requirements

  • Multiple, prior, and recent years of related work experience in memory architecture within the semiconductor industry
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering. Masters preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with performance analysis and optimization
  • Strong knowledge of DRAM and memory subsystem architectures
  • Previous experience visualizing or analyzing data are desirable
  • Good programming skills: preference for Python

Responsibilities

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to develop memory subsystem, shaping long-range roadmaps and architectural direction.
  • Define and evolve system design requirements for the memory subsystem working in close collaboration with industry partners, JEDEC, design teams and pre-silicon teams like signal integrity, power integrity and board design.
  • Influence design quality and execution through design reviews, technical mentorship, and principled tradeoff decisions.
  • Support post-silicon bring-up, validation, characterization, optimization, and product readiness.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to senior technical peers, leadership, and stakeholders.
  • Mentor and advise engineers, contributing to a strong and inclusive technical community.
