About The Position

People Incorporated Mental Health Services is seeking a Mental Health Clinical Intern to join our team. This position provides hands-on experience for students pursuing higher education in a Clinical Counseling. This position will support harm reduction and recovery-based services for individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use needs. Under supervision, they will gain experience conducting comprehensive assessments, facilitating individual and group counseling sessions, providing psychoeducation, and supporting treatment planning and clinical documentation. They will also have the opportunity to work as part of an interdisciplinary team while developing skills in person-centered, low-barrier care approaches. Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited Clinical Counseling program.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference given to current People Incorporated employees in good standing.
  • Previous experience working with or knowledge of individuals with serious and persistent mental illness, chemical dependency, developmental disabilities, and/or other health conditions that impact mental health.
  • Previous experience working with at risk and underserved communities.

Responsibilities

  • Shadow 7-10 clinical sessions for clients across the lifespan.
  • Participate in and/or conduct assessments and treatment plans of care and discharge plans as needed.
  • Document interactions and interventions with clients according to program requirements into the Electronic Health Record.
  • Actively engage clients in their mental health recovery, using person centered principles and goals.
  • Attend clinical case consults as scheduled and present on a client one time per month.
  • Effectively interact and exhibit behavior that is consistent with customer service and professional standards established by the organization, division and program.
  • Ensure that all daily tasks are completed in a timely manner.
  • Attend all required and assigned meetings and trainings.
  • Attendance according to schedule as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.
