About the position

Mental Health Counselors provide counseling, case management, direct clinical services, community and home based services, and behavioral and human services to mentally ill, developmentally disabled and/or emotionally disturbed clients in an outpatient, residential, community or similar setting. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training. The Division of Child and Family Services is recruiting for a Mental Health Counselor 2, within the Child and Adolescent Mobile Crisis Response Team in Las Vegas. The Mobile Crisis Response Team receives, and triages calls from families and community partners, responds in teams to families with children experiencing a mental or behavioral health crisis. Responses can take place in emergency departments, schools, homes, and other community settings. Mental Health Counselors are responsible for completing a semi-structured assessment, providing support, immediate interventions, and create plans jointly with the Psychiatric Caseworker, youth, and family to ensure the safety of the youth and to maintain them in their homes, schools, and communities when able. Mental Health Counselors provide counseling, case management, direct clinical services, community and home-based services to children and adolescents in crisis in an outpatient clinic or community setting. Teams can remain in place for up to 45 days to provide clinical and case management services to families.
