About The Position

In this full-time, on-site role based in New Jersey, the Therapist is a key member of Freedom Recovery interdisciplinary treatment team. The Therapist provides direct clinical services across Freedom Recovery’s continuum of mental health care, including individual therapy, group therapy, and clinical assessments. This role works closely with case managers, prescribers, and program leadership to develop individualized treatment plans, support client engagement, and ensure continuity of care. The Therapist plays an essential role in helping clients address mental health challenges, build coping skills, and progress toward long-term recovery while maintaining compliance with clinical documentation and regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or related behavioral health field
  • Active New Jersey professional license (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, or Psychologist preferred)
  • Minimum of 1–3 years of clinical experience providing therapy in a mental health or substance use treatment setting
  • Experience conducting psychosocial assessments, treatment planning, and individual/group therapy
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practices such as CBT, DBT, or ACT
  • Ability to maintain compliance with HIPAA and applicable New Jersey behavioral health regulations
  • Strong documentation, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary treatment team
  • Ability to work full-time, on-site in New Jersey, Monday through Friday plus one Saturday per month.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and group therapy to clients in outpatient, Intensive Outpatient Programming (IOP), and day treatment settings
  • Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments and develop individualized treatment plans
  • Utilize evidence-based therapeutic approaches such as CBT, DBT, ACT, or other clinically appropriate modalities
  • Participate in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings and collaborate with case managers, prescribers, and program staff
  • Monitor client progress toward treatment goals and adjust treatment interventions as needed
  • Provide crisis intervention and risk assessment when clinically indicated
  • Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation in accordance with agency policies, state regulations, and payer requirements
  • Support client engagement, retention, and successful transitions between levels of care
  • Coordinate care with external providers, including primary care physicians, psychiatrists, and community resources when appropriate
  • Adhere to all confidentiality, ethical, and professional standards, including HIPAA and applicable New Jersey regulations
  • Collaborate with program leadership to support quality improvement initiatives and program operations as needed
