Position Summary: JMT is seeking an MEP Construction Manager / Superintendent to be responsible for managing facility construction or rehabilitation projects, including coordination with designers and contractors, potentially assigned field staff and sub-consultants assigned to projects. Immediate work will be for a large rail/transit project in Philadelphia, PA.  Some marketing and proposal development from a technical perspective will be a function of this role. This role provides great career opportunities in JMT’s growing rail & transit and Facilities PM/CM practice. Immigration sponsorship or support (e.g. H1B, F-1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT) is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification.

Requirements

  • Must successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective leadership skills for managing and mentoring field staff
  • Ability to take charge and effectively manage contractors to meet project schedule
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations with 10HR OSHA Safety card
  • The ability to work well with others, and willingness to learn in a team environment
  • Ability to evaluate contractor provided construction CPM schedules, including logic and sequencing
  • Minimum of five to ten years of construction experience serving as a Construction Manager, Construction Management Representative, Owner’s Representative or Construction Superintendent
  • Experience with renovation projects in facilities involving MEP disciplines and building system repair and restoration that involved the active management, oversight and/or inspection of multiple construction trades.
  • Knowledge and experience working with project costs and budgets, processing change requests, requests for information, submittals, and field observation reports
  • Experience using SharePoint or related construction management software to communicate construction progress and process documentation.
  • Experience using MS Excel or related cost estimating software to develop Independent Cost Estimates for change order negotiations
  • Experience reviewing engineering designs, contractor shop drawings and/or vendor specifications and plans, or similar, to determine constructability and practicality of proposed work and adherence to established standards and requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management preferred, or 10+ years field experience
  • Engineering in Training (EIT), Registered Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Construction Manager (CCM), or Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred
  • Experience with International Building Code
  • Experience with federal, state, and local codes and standards.
  • Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 30-hour construction safety training
  • Proposal coordination and submission

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily coordination of contractor’s installation of materials equipment and MEP components in accordance with contract documents
  • Provide documentation of all activities of the contractor and report to the owner’s Project Manager
  • Participate in bi-weekly progress meetings.
  • Oversee submittal review process, change order management process and request for information process with the contractor and subs
  • Manage and coordinate inspection staff
  • Report on project issues and provide status updates
  • Perform other duties as may be required
