About The Position

Successfully promote and support the mission of Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas as guided by the Catholic Social Teachings handling all TurnStyles’ donation pickups and deliveries and moving merchandise from the donation bay, through inspection, testing, pricing and on to the sales floor. The Truck Driver & Merchandising Coordinator will be able to clearly communicate to customers and train volunteers (i.e., community service and student volunteers) while supporting sales and profitability. EEO. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Truck Driver Ensures each customer receives superior service at the time of pickup and deliveries; ensures that donation receipts are given to each customer at the time of pickup. Coordinates and manages pickup and delivery based on the scheduling agenda to include the pickup of donations in all donation bins. Ensures compliance with store and agency policies and procedures. Prepares truck(s) for delivery and pickup; cleans truck after every use. Ensures that the truck is unloaded and ready for its next use. Efficiently picks up donations as scheduled by the TurnStyles’ Administrative Representative. Keeps all TurnStyles’ vehicles clean and reports any vehicle issues that may arise. Maintains all records in compliance with DOT standards. Ensures all regular maintenance is performed on TurnStyles’ trucks. Other duties as assigned in the store when there are no scheduled truck duties. Merchandising Coordinator Follows existing guidelines to ensure proper testing, cleaning, and pricing of merchandise. Ensures quality merchandise and assesses items to ensure no product recalls exist, before placing merchandise on the sales floor. Keeps product flow from the donation bay to the sales floor. Trains and communicates tasks to volunteers (i.e., community service and students) and handles donor and customer complaints. Maintains safe and organized works spaces in all processing areas of the store. Manages all processes to ensure accurate and prompt response time to all requests from Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas programming (i.e., Refugee Program, Emergency Assistance Centers). Serves as a backup on the sales floor and donation bay, when needed. Must be a team player.

Requirements

  • Must complete VIRTUS training, background screening, drug testing, and any ongoing training as required
  • High School Graduate; college graduate preferred.
  • Drivers must be at least 21 years of age
  • Minimum of 1-year transportation experience with DOT certification.
  • Minimum of 1-year supervisory experience (overseeing the work of others – staff and/or volunteers)
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with and motivate associates and volunteers.
  • Strong customer service experience, effectively handling donor and/or customer complaints.
  • Solid knowledge of retail or thrift store operations preferred.
  • Proficient computer knowledge.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Lift, push or move up to 50 pounds on a repeated basis.
  • Stand and/or walk for long periods of time (up to 9 hours at a time).
  • Required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Visual functions including near and distance vision and depth perception.
  • Work is primarily performed in a warehouse area where the worker is subject to temperature changes, extreme cold, extreme heat, noise, and vibration, proximity to moving mechanical parts and exposure to chemicals, fumes, odors, dust, and/or gases.
