About The Position

At SanMar, the work you do makes a difference. What's the Short Version? The Merchandising Intern, Design is responsible for supporting the Design and Merchandising Teams during an 8-week program held onsite at our headquarters in Issaquah, WA. The role will assist the product line with a wide range of product categories and tasks, providing administrative support within design and merchandising. During the 8-week period, the Design Intern will create and present an original trend and design project for one or two chosen categories. What Will You Be Doing?

Requirements

Currently working towards a Bachelor’s degree in Fashion, Design, Merchandising, or related field
Strong attention to detail, organizational, analytic, and problem-solving skills
Strong desire to learn along with professional drive
Ability to take direction and absorb information quickly
Administrative skills which must include excellent verbal and written communication skills
Responsive to staff needs, including professionalism, respect and consideration of others

Responsibilities

Help maintain the fabric swatch library, trim libraries, color libraries and sample racks.
Help maintain color swatch organization of CSI and Pantone Color Systems
Assist in the preparation of samples and design illustrations/renderings for design and merchant presentations, management meetings, etc.
Research competitor offerings and compile documentation by building spreadsheets or power point decks
Conduct a variety of general administrative tasks for the department or departments as assigned.
Job shadow various members of the department and assist them as needed.
Participate in intern cohort activities including: professional development workshops, warehouse tours, and meetings with leadership.
May perform or support special projects.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Comply with all policies and standards.
