About The Position

The merchant is responsible for driving sales and profit by developing and delivering a cohesive product strategy & assortment that protects our brand integrity and delights our customers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related field, or equivalent experience
  • Previous retail experience preferred
  • Previous experience in merchandising role required
  • Strong sense of fashion
  • Takes initiative
  • Positive attitude
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, systems savvy
  • Ability to prioritize
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

Responsibilities

  • Maintain proper unit and dollar inventory levels for department categories
  • Tries different approaches to learn and achieve results
  • Manage all aspects of the business in the assigned area of responsibilities
  • Self-motivated to drive & deliver results
  • Provides market intelligence; understands the competitive landscape and leverages knowledge to drive assortment strategy.
  • Develops departmental merchandising strategy within the company guidelines through the study of market influence, business trends, product availability and funding available
  • Identify trends and capitalize on them, ensure creation of a unique collection that emphasizes maurices unique selling propositions
  • Offers customers fashion right product at a value they’ll recognize
  • Maintain working knowledge of competitors
  • Ensure immediate and long-term profitability by planning statistically and conceptually for short and long range development business
  • Ability to have a vision and execute it
  • Accurately projects and manages product, sales, and markdowns
  • Anticipates future consequences accurately and create appropriate strategies for risk mitigation.
