About The Position

A leading AmLaw 100 firm is hiring in Washington, DC for a deal associate who wants a true split of core M&A and energy-sector transactions. The group stays busy, and sits in the middle of the firm’s platform. ROLE SUMMARY Buy-side and sell-side M&A, divestitures, and joint ventures Energy transactional matters, including renewables, oil and gas, project development, and energy-related commercial contracts Deals staffed with tax, benefits, labor, environmental, real estate, securities, and antitrust as needed, so you learn how the whole machine works, not just one lane The firm is consistently ranked for M&A deal activity in major league tables and is recognized for mid-market M&A strength. Credible energy platform with recognition in Projects: Power and Renewables (Transactional), which matters if you want energy work that is actually transactional and not just adjacent. Clear economics: $260,000–$310,000 base range for this seat (plus bonus structure per firm policy).

Requirements

  • 3–4 years of law firm experience in M&A and/or energy transactions (national-platform experience preferred)
  • Strong drafting and issue-spotting, comfortable working directly with deal teams and clients
  • Active DC Bar required or waive-in.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to renewables, oil and gas, project development, or energy commercial contracts is a plus
