About The Position

This role is responsible for overseeing the calibration, maintenance, and lifecycle management of all measurement and test equipment (M&TE) used within the organization. This role ensures compliance with internal quality standards, industry regulatory requirements, and customer expectations by managing the tracking, scheduling, documentation, and accuracy of calibrated instruments. This position serves as the technical subject-matter expert for measurement systems, calibration processes, and traceability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field) or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in metrology, calibration engineering, quality engineering, or related technical discipline.
  • Experience managing calibrated instruments in a manufacturing, laboratory, or regulated environment.
  • Strong understanding of measurement principles, dimensional metrology, and calibration processes.
  • Familiarity with calibration standards such as ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO 9001/AS9100 requirements.
  • Proficiency with calibration management software (e.g., GAGEtrak, ProCal, IndySoft, or equivalent).
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, tolerances, and GD&T.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the company’s calibration and metrology program.
  • Manage the complete lifecycle of calibrated instruments—including selection, onboarding, calibration scheduling, maintenance, and decommissioning.
  • Maintain a reliable calibration tracking system that ensures all M&TE is calibrated on time and documented properly.
  • Review calibration certificates for completeness, traceability, and conformance to national/international standards (e.g., NIST, ISO/IEC 17025).
  • Lead Measurement System Analysis (MSA) activities including Gage R&R, bias, linearity, and stability studies.
  • Evaluate measurement uncertainty and determine appropriate equipment for production, testing, and inspection needs.
  • Ensure compliance with company Quality Management System (QMS) and regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 13485, AS9100, or other applicable standards).
  • Collaborate with Quality Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, and suppliers to resolve calibration-related nonconformances.
  • Participate in internal and external audits as the metrology/calibration subject-matter expert.
  • Evaluate and qualify new measurement technologies and calibration service providers.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to metrology and calibration.
  • Train personnel on proper use, handling, and storage of calibrated equipment.
  • Evaluate areas to realize cost efficiencies and improvement opportunities.
  • Maintain detailed calibration records, certificates, traceability logs, and equipment history.
  • Track and analyze calibration trends, failure rates, and recurring issues to drive process improvements.
