Chemours is seeking a Laboratory Supervisor to join our Quality team! This position will report directly to the Quality Manager in our Deepwater, NJ location. The Laboratory Supervisor role covers a broad range of responsibilities including daily laboratory support, resolution of laboratory issues, safety leadership, and supervises a staff of laboratory technicians. Ensures adherence to established laboratory and safety policies and procedures. Maintains standards in the areas of housekeeping, safety, attendance, operational discipline, laboratory safety management, and scheduled and unscheduled maintenance. Responsible for responding to personnel, laboratory, safety and environmental incidents. Ensure work is completed in accordance with procedures to support Chambers Works production units and wastewater treatment facilities. This position works closely with laboratory technicians, technical, quality, operations, and maintenance to ensure continuous, high quality analytical support in an efficient and timely fashion. In addition, this position manages laboratory safety and personnel performance and development in an union environment. It requires coordination of delivery against standards established by ISO 9001:2015, business expectations, and Continuous Improvement (WAVE, Six Sigma, Lean, 5S, etc). The ideal candidate will be responsible for assessing the quality, robustness, and capability of the laboratory; and completing investigations if the laboratory has not met safety, reliability, and/or quality standards.

Requirements

  • Associates or higher degree in Science; OR a High School Diploma/GED with 3+ years of experience in a production environment or equivalent
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and interpersonal communication skills to work with a diverse population of employees
  • Must have fundamental understanding of Laboratory Safety Management systems and schedule flexibility to be first call for a 24/7 operation
  • Ability to assess and improve individual and group performance
  • Experience in setting and maintaining meaningful metrics to drive improvement

Nice To Haves

  • Previous leadership experience or detail supervision experience
  • Knowledge of Laboratory Information Management System (ex. LIMS, Sample Manager, etc.), Quality Management System (ETQ/Reliance), and Enterprise Resource Planning Software (SAP)
  • Prior experience in change leadership and/or transformational activities
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Science

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for compliance with policies, procedures and safety standards related to ISO 9001:2015 and Laboratory Safety Management Practices
  • Ensure high quality analytical support and processes in an efficient manner to enable in-process analysis and final product quality release
  • Interface with Operations, Technology, and Maintenance for priority coordination of samples, staffing, improvement programs, and maintenance work
  • Communicate progress against Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) versus performance targets and adjusting schedule accordingly
  • Lead and influence team by setting high standards and operational discipline supporting a 24/7 manufacturing facility to achieve desired results
  • Respond to personnel, laboratory, safety, quality and environmental incidents
  • Manage laboratory production in a safe and environmentally sound manner, supporting quality, cost and continuous improvement objectives
  • Demonstrated ability to get results, meet commitments, troubleshoot and use problem solving methodologies that may arise as it pertains to the business's operations
  • Perform lab activities including troubleshooting & approving samples in lab information management system (LIMS), retain sample management, test method management, and job cycle checks
  • Review all calibration/preventive maintenance records and certificates for accuracy and completeness
