About The Position

The Manager, Asset Recovery is responsible for managing overdue vehicles to control the aging, volumes, and risk. Leads a team of Fleet Recovery Agents to locate and recover overdue vehicles. Plays a critical role in the recovery of overdue vehicles, minimizes vehicle damage, and assists with overall utilization.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of supervisor experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Criminal Justice, or related field.
  • Process Improvement – Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt level or higher preferred)
  • Collections practices and investigative techniques.
  • Forecasting and statistical analysis.
  • Experience in rental operations, rental terms and conditions, credit policies, and theft reporting procedures.
  • Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders across multiple functions and locations.
  • Ability to drive process and organizational change.
  • Ability to motivate teams and keep a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision with a goal-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to see the big picture and leverage critical thinking and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent organization, time management, delegation, and prioritization skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manages overdue vehicles to control the aging, volumes, and risk. Utilizes all available tools to reach customers including automated and manual phone dialing, email, physical mail, text messaging, skip tracing, investigation, and repossession.
  • Manage impounded vehicles to control aging, volume, and risk. Utilize all available tools to negotiate impound fees, dispatching vendors for vehicle pick up, and closing EAM impound cases for United States and Canada.
  • Control aging and cost of impound purchases order. Ensure timely closure of Purchase Orders and accurate pricing, controlling cost, and time to closure.
  • Ensuring timely and continuous contact with Police Agencies to clear vehicle from Evidence hold and retrieval of these vehicle timely once released by Police or District Attorney’s Office.
  • Limit the number of thefts and vehicle conversions through proper procedural and monitoring practices. Ensure theft and recovery reporting is completed within established timelines.
  • Ensure renter’s being placed on the Do Not Rent list conform to the guidelines outlined in procedure. Ensures that based on criteria those customers who are placed on temporary or a non-permanent DNR status are removed within the parameters outlined in the procedure.
  • Oversees violations processing performed by an outside service provider in fulfillment of established Service Level Agreements. Manages continuous improvement activities to reduce Hertz liability for violations, ensure timely turnaround of violation processing, recover Hertz administrative costs, and support customer service. Ensure that issuing authority claims for unpaid violations are properly negotiated and that effective liability reserves are always maintained.
  • Oversees toll billing and administration performed by an outside service provider in fulfillment of established Service Level Agreements. Manages continuous improvement activities to increase Hertz revenue, reduce Hertz liability for tolls, and support customer service.
  • Monitors driving records for employees driving Hertz vehicles to ensure compliance with Federal regulations.
  • Manages the usage of repossession and private investigators to deliver the highest rate and speed of vehicle recovery at the lowest cost to Hertz. Ensures that all charges are billed correctly to Hertz. Ensures that administrative costs are rebilled to the responsible renter.
  • Reviews and validates all journal entries recorded for violations and toll settlements between Hertz and an outside service provider. Provide financial and operations forecasts for liabilities and revenues and analysis of variance.
  • Conducts quarterly business reviews with all responsible stakeholders to provide analysis of current performance, to identify improvement opportunities, and update the organization on strategic initiatives.
  • Pursues process excellence by implementing best practices and supporting continuous improvement projects. Develops global processes and share best practices with other Hertz and Finance Shared Service colleagues.
  • Selects and hires employees for the Vehicle Control department. Trains and evaluates employees to enhance their performance and development. Addresses performance issues and makes recommendations for personnel actions.
