About The Position

Welfare and Self-Reliance Department strives to fulfill the directive of the Savior to care for the poor and the needy by helping needy international members become temporally and spiritually self-reliant. To implement prophetic vision, the department has created new products and services designed to help Church leaders and members understand and live the doctrines and principles of self-reliance, work, and education through skills for finding and keeping a better job, succeeding in school or vocational training, and starting or growing their own business, helping to further the mission of the Church. This role helps those members who are in need, willing to be worthy, and willing to work to learn the doctrines and principles of self-reliance in order to provide for themselves and their families the temporal and spiritual necessities of life, or self-reliance. The incumbent is the Employment Resources information conduit and problem solver with headquarters operations employees, volunteers, missionaries and local leaders. Also, this role helps develop and implement strategy, policies and systems relating to operations. He/she is assigned to provide strategic direction, in-field training and ongoing support to designated International Areas. This role provides training to Area Welfare and Self Reliance Staff on employment services operations policies, procedures and systems addresses all personnel, technical, policy and operational issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 8+ years' direct hands successful experience in implementing best practices and technology to improve management and administrative effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Must have a high level of analytical and creative skills.
  • Must be proficient in the use of personal computers to utilize databases, spreadsheets, word processing, internet, and e-mail communications
  • Must be self-starting, enthusiastic, and member/priesthood oriented.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills, and group training skills with ability to communicate complex ideas verbally and in writing.
  • Must be able to lead and motivate individuals to higher levels of performance.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA or relevant Master's level degree strongly preferred.
  • Prior International business experience a plus.
  • Fluency in Spanish strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic direction and support to Area Welfare Self Reliance Managers in International Areas regarding all personnel, technical, policy, and operational issues.
  • Travel in assigned Areas to assist in the training of Area Welfare Self Reliance Managers, Welfare and Self Reliance Managers, Area Employment Managers, and local Employment Services Managers, and missionaries.
  • Assist the Headquarters Manager of Employment Services Manager, to oversee global employment services operations and all processes relating to active job search groups worldwide, job search workshops, one on one coaching, resource development, networking and job placement including training to wards, stakes, and local employment centers.
  • Help develop strategy, policies, and systems relating to the Employment Services.
  • Completion of specific headquarters functional assignments.
