Microbiology Analyst Position Summary: Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8 AM-4:30 PM; potential to transition to 12-hour shifts in the future This position is 100% on-site at the Adair site. The newly launched manufacturing facility on Adair Blvd marks a pivotal expansion of Catalent’s Zydis® technology, a globally renowned, fast-dissolve oral dosage form that has transformed the lives of millions of patients worldwide. At Adair, you’ll play a vital role in the startup of a site built for innovation and excellence, from installation and qualification to regulatory approval and commercial manufacturing. Reporting to the Quality Control Supervisor, the Microbiology Analyst is responsible for coordinating and performing laboratory activities/projects including analysis of raw materials, finished products, and stability samples using microbial methods. The Microbiology Analyst is part of a scientific team that assists in the advancement, research and development of pharmaceutical products produced by the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, Microbiology or related field is required.
  • 2+ years of experience as a lab analyst concentrating in microbiology preferred.
  • Experience working in a pharmaceutical and/or GMP facility.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve quality issues, optimize quality systems and processes, and drive continuous improvement.
  • The candidate should be able to make informed decisions in a timely manner, considering both operational and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong technical/scientific background.
  • Knowledge of laboratory/ aseptic techniques, terminology, equipment, and materials.
  • Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
  • Demonstrate applicable ethics and due diligence.
  • Good communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

  • This role requires sitting, standing, walking, reaching, bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling as part of regular duties.
  • This role requires talking, hearing, using hands and fingers for keyboarding and handling materials, and having adequate close vision.

Responsibilities

  • Sample and test raw materials, finished products and stability samples using microbial methods described in compendia references or in-house methods, as required.
  • Responsible for Environmental Monitoring (EM) sampling and testing.
  • Responsible for speciation, growth promotion, and stock culture maintenance.
  • Perform routine monitoring/calibration of designated lab equipment, as required.
  • Maintain adequate levels of laboratory supplies.
  • Always comply with SOPs and GMPs.
  • Ensure compliance with Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) regulations, demonstrating leadership in safety practices and resolving safety-related issues.
  • Perform other duties as required.
