About The Position

Job Summary: Under general supervision, responsible for performing complex microscopy sample preparation, advanced operation of microscopy equipment, and detailed data analysis to support research and production needs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Independently prepare and manage complex or delicate samples, ensuring superior sample integrity, traceability, and compliance with specific experimental requirements (i.e. standard and advanced Lamella preparation using Focused Ion Beam tools). • Operate advanced microscopy instruments (e.g., high-resolution electron or confocal microscopes) to perform complex imaging and analysis tasks. • Collecting & analyzing compositional feature data utilizing Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) and Electron Energy Loss Spectroscopy (EELS) • Lead routine and preventive maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting efforts to minimize downtime and maintain instrument performance. • Collaborate closely with engineers, scientists, and quality teams to assist in experimental design, identify areas of interest, and develop custom microscopy protocols. • Perform comprehensive data collection and analysis, applying intermediate microscopy imaging software tools to extract meaningful insights and produce detailed reports. • Contribute to the development, validation, and continuous refinement of SOPs to enhance reproducibility and efficiency. • Train new users on sample Preparation and Analysis Equipment • Ensure strict adherence to cleanroom guidelines, safety standards, and quality management systems. • Participate actively in troubleshooting experimental challenges, process improvements, and the evaluation of emerging microscopy technologies.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated proficiency in operating and maintaining multiple microscopy platforms.
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret complex microscopy data.
  • Effective problem-solving capabilities with a proactive approach to technical challenges.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for reporting and collaboration.
  • Competent with microscopy imaging and data analysis software at an advanced user level.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to continual learning and process enhancement.
  • Ability to work Compressed Work Week Night Shift (i.e. 6pm – 6am) and weekends is required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3 years of experience in microscopy or a related laboratory environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in STEM preferred.
