About The Position

The Mid-Level IT Project Manager supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. The candidate is responsible for planning, executing, and closing IT projects within defined scope, budget, and timeline. This role requires strong self-direction, leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills to effectively manage project teams and stakeholders, ensuring projects are aligned with business objectives and delivered to meet or exceed expectations.

Requirements

  • Must have 6, or more, years of general (full-time) work experience
  • May be reduced with completion of advanced education
  • Must have 5, or more, years of direct experience in IT project management, managing high-dollar projects.
  • Must have a general understanding of IT infrastructure, software development, and emerging technologies.
  • Must have experience identifying, assessing, and mitigating project risks.
  • Must have a minimum CAPM (Certified Associate of Project Management) certification.
  • Must have an active DoD Secret Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Project Planning and Initiation:
  • Create and maintain project documentation and plans, to include project timelines, resource allocations, and budgets.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments to identify potential project challenges.
  • Establish project governance and communication protocols.
  • Project Execution and Monitoring:
  • Lead and manage geographically dispersed project teams, providing guidance, motivation, and performance feedback.
  • Coordinate and facilitate project meetings, ensuring clear communication and action items.
  • Monitor project progress and performance against plan, identifying and addressing deviations.
  • Track project budget and expenditures, ensuring adherence to financial guidelines.
  • Manage project risks and issues, develop mitigation strategies and contingency plans.
  • Utilize project management tools and methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall) to effectively manage projects.
  • Stakeholder Management:
  • Communicate project status, risks, and issues to stakeholders on a regular basis.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure alignment with project goals.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across the organization.
  • Act as a liaison between the IT department and other business units.
  • Project Closure and Evaluation:
  • Ensure project deliverables are completed and meet quality standards.
  • Conduct project closure activities, including documentation, knowledge transfer, and stakeholder sign-off.
  • Evaluate project performance and identify lessons learned for future projects.
  • Prepare and present project reports to management.
  • Other Responsibilities:
  • Stay up to date on industry trends and best practices in project management.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of project management methodologies and processes.
