We are seeking a part-time, in-person Middle School English Tutor to provide 1:1 or group tutoring instruction during day-time hours and/or evening hours, depending on your availability.
Location: Various locations across New Castle County
Type: Part-time
Schedule: Flexible; We are looking for a tutor who can support for less than 10 hours a week between 8AM - 3PM and/or 3:30PM - 7:30PM, depending on your availability
Travel: Tutor may be traveling to different locations across New Castle County to provide tutoring (for example, in schools or libraries)

Requirements

• A minimum of 2 years of teaching or tutoring experience with middle school-aged students (excluding student teaching) in the topic of English (like literature, English, reading, writing, etc.)
• Bachelor’s degree required
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to adapt lesson plans and teaching approaches based on student engagement, need, and skill level
• Ability to manage student(s) in group setting
• Ability to travel to different locations in New Castle County (like schools, libraries, etc.)

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 or small group tutoring for instruction in middle school English in a school setting or library setting.
• Develop tailored lesson plans based on student needs and learning styles
• Use creative, hands-on approaches to make the subject engaging and relevant
• Maintain accurate documentation of student's sessions and progress
• Communicate with parents regularly and student's teacher as needed
• Adjust instruction techniques to accommodate students with learning differences
