About The Position

The goal of the Middle School Educational Supportive Services (ESS) Paraprofessional is to support students in the general education setting by providing for their academic, social, emotional, and/or physical needs. This role provides and documents accommodation and modification services in accordance with ISP and 504 plans, in alignment with the stated goals in student plans. This position is a key role that actively engages in NorthPointe Christian’s mission of “equipping students to impact their world for Jesus Christ.” NorthPointe Christian Schools is currently seeking to fill a full-time position beginning as soon as possible through the conclusion of the 2025–2026 school year (ending May 29, 2026). This position is an hourly, non-exempt role. Full-time employment is typically defined as approximately 30–40 hours per week during the academic year. Part-time schedules will be considered and may be available depending on student needs. Benefits eligibility is based on employment status and school policy. Employment with NorthPointe Christian Schools is at-will and does not constitute a contract for employment for any specific duration.

Requirements

  • Active Christian in agreement with and willing to sign NorthPointe Christian School’s Foundational Statements.
  • Experience working with and demonstrating patience toward differently abled individuals.
  • Openness to the development of teaching skills.
  • Flexibility in meeting team and student demands.
  • Discernment and creativity in addressing student needs.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of required background checks, including fingerprint screening, in accordance with state and school policy.
  • Strong verbal communication skills, including the ability to understand and convey ideas clearly.
  • Willingness to learn and share insights, tips, and strategies with colleagues.

Nice To Haves

  • At least 30 college credit hours preferred.
  • Experience working with or mentoring teens is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Support the School’s Foundational Statements and mission through word and deed.
  • Integrate biblical principles and Scripture into daily activities.
  • Minister to students through prayer, encouragement, and wise counsel.
  • Promote and demonstrate a growth mindset, believing that each student has the potential to succeed.
  • Work with the Special Education Coordinator to support both students and general education teachers, ensuring accommodations, modifications, and behavior management plans are implemented and needs are met.
  • Serve as a team player by following the direction of the Special Education Coordinator and collaborating with general education teachers to provide classroom support and pull-out instruction as needed.
  • Plan and provide direct instruction to students to meet student goals.
  • Essential functions of this role include providing physical support to students, which may include bathroom assistance and other personal care tasks, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Train and engage peers to provide support and foster friendship.
  • Assist with NPC recordkeeping and filing, including parent communication when necessary.
