About The Position

Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is a network of high-performing K–8 public charter schools committed to academic excellence, college readiness, and equitable access to high-quality education for students in historically underserved communities. AMS is seeking a passionate and data-driven Middle School Math Teacher (Grades 5–8) to join our team at the AMS Power Campus in Mesa for the 2026–2027 school year. The Middle School Math Teacher is responsible for delivering rigorous, standards-aligned instruction that strengthens students’ mathematical reasoning, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. The ideal candidate will create a structured, engaging classroom environment that supports student growth and prepares scholars for advanced mathematics and future academic success. AMS teachers are collaborative professionals who believe that all scholars can achieve at high levels through structured instruction, strong classroom culture, and data-informed teaching practices.

Requirements

  • Candidates must meet one of the following requirements: Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Mathematics, Education, or relevant content area) OR Valid Arizona teaching certification in a relevant subject area OR Minimum of three (3) years of K–12 teaching experience
  • Demonstrate strong classroom management skills
  • Pass required background checks and obtain an IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Show commitment to serving Title I and multilingual communities
  • Demonstrate strong analytical skills and a data-driven instructional mindset
  • Exhibit collaboration, professionalism, and initiative in a team-based environment

Responsibilities

  • Deliver rigorous, standards-aligned mathematics instruction aligned with AMS curriculum and Arizona academic standards.
  • Strengthen students’ mathematical reasoning, problem-solving, and analytical thinking skills.
  • Differentiate instruction to support students performing above and below grade level.
  • Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and inform instructional planning.
  • Implement instructional strategies that promote student engagement and conceptual understanding of mathematics.
  • Establish and maintain a structured, positive, and high-expectations classroom environment.
  • Implement PBIS and proactive classroom management strategies.
  • Support students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development.
  • Encourage students to develop strong study habits and accountability for their learning.
  • Participate in weekly professional development and professional learning communities (PLCs).
  • Collaborate with grade-level teams, instructional coaches, and school leadership to strengthen teaching practices.
  • Use student performance data to support instructional improvement and targeted academic interventions.
  • Contribute to school-wide systems and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and academic expectations.
  • Conduct parent-teacher conferences and maintain strong home–school partnerships.
  • Support family engagement initiatives that promote student success.
