SUMMARY: The teacher is responsible for supervising students within the classroom and other assigned areas; developing lesson plans and delivering instruction within established curriculum guidelines; collaborating with other teachers, professional staff, and administrators to improve instruction; and engaging parents/guardians in conversations with regard to instructional programs and student progress.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree
- A valid license from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Consistent and on-time attendance is required for supervision and instruction of the students

Responsibilities
- Supervising students within the classroom and other assigned areas
- Developing lesson plans and delivering instruction within established curriculum guidelines
- Collaborating with other teachers, professional staff, and administrators to improve instruction
- Engaging parents/guardians in conversations with regard to instructional programs and student progress
- Creates and maintains an effective and developmentally appropriate learning environment for children
- Manages student behavior to provide a safe and optimal classroom climate
- Participates in a variety of meetings and professional development activities to improve instruction and become up to date on district initiatives
- Assesses student progress towards learning targets, objectives, and expectations
- Collects data to document student progress and aid in planning
- Provides feedback on progress to students, parents, and administration
- Holds parent conferences in the fall and spring to discuss individual student progress
- Instructs students in English language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, and an anti-bullying curriculum
- Prepares daily lessons and activities
- Provides targeted intervention to close student learning gaps
- Attends and participates in faculty meetings
- Responsible for implementing “other job related duties” as needed
