About The Position

We are looking for an an educator who values relationship-building, flexibility, and making a meaningful difference in the lives of students who need it most!! Village Academy, a Cognia-accredited Category I Non-Public School located on the campus of Village Behavioral Health, is seeking a passionate and dedicated Middle School Teacher to join our team. Our school serves adolescents in a trauma-informed residential treatment setting, where education, structure, and therapeutic support work together to help students grow academically and emotionally. As our middle school teacher you will provide instruction across core academic subjects in a small classroom environment. Our teachers work closely with clinical staff and behavioral health teams to support students in maintaining academic engagement while participating in therapeutic treatment. Class sizes are small, allowing teachers to focus on individualized instruction, structure, and student support. We are now moving away from the year round schedule to a more standard school schedule with built-in fall/spring/ holiday breaks, and includes a 6 week required summer session sandwiched between 2 weeks off before and after the summer session.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or related field which is eligible for teacher certification or license within the state where the facility is located is required.
  • One or more years’ experience working with population of the facility preferred.
  • Ability to teach multiple core subjects at the middle school level
  • Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills
  • Passion for working with students who benefit from a structured, trauma-informed environment
  • Valid Tennessee Teaching License (Required)
  • Valid Tennessee Driver’s License (Required)
  • CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
  • First aid may be required based on state or facility.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction in core middle school academic subjects
  • Maintain a structured, supportive, and trauma-informed classroom environment
  • Adapt instruction to meet the needs of students with diverse learning backgrounds
  • Support students in maintaining academic routines and expectations
  • Maintain accurate attendance, grades, and academic records
  • Collaborate with behavioral health technicians, therapists, and leadership staff
  • Reinforce positive behavior and classroom expectations
  • Support students in preparing for successful transition back to their home school
  • Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.
