About The Position

Enjoy the benefit of a 10 hour work shift!! We are currently hiring for 1st shift positions. 1st shift hours: Monday through Thursday, 6:00am - 4:30pm. Overtime on Friday's when needed. We pay double time after 45 hours worked per week!! Bonus of $1,000 after 90 days employment if you have no absences or tardies!!! POSITION REPORTS TO: Shop Supervisor SUPERVISION RESPONSIBILITIES: None STATUS: Full-time; FLSA Non-Exempt POSITION OBJECTIVE: Build Barges and barge accessories per blueprint specifications

Requirements

3 years of production welding and fitting experience preferred
Higher vocational training preferred
Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and AWS standard welding symbols
Experienced in GMAW, FCAW, and MCAW.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a consistent basis
Must be able to stand, reach, walk and bend on a continual basis.
Must be able to work in a non-temperature-controlled environment (cold in winter- hot in summer), including work outside all year in all weather conditions.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience training others is preferred.
Knowledge of GTAW is preferred.

Responsibilities

Layout, position, align and fit together fabricated parts of structural metal products in shop according to blueprint and layout specifications, in preparation for welding.
Setup and adjust welding machines in order to weld components and assemblies using GMAW, FCAW, and MCAW.
Plan sequence of operation, applying knowledge of geometry, effects of heat, and allowance for weld shrinkage, machining, and thickness of metal.
Move parts into position manually or utilizing overhead cranes and forklifts.
Remove high spots, slag and cuts bevels, using hand files, portable grinders, chipping hammers and cutting & plasma torch.
Inspect materials, components, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions.
Work effectively and efficiently in both team-based and independent working environments.
Responsible for observing and complying with all safety rules, including wearing required personal safety equipment.
