About the position
We are seeking a detail-oriented Mill Test Report (MTR) Specialist to join our Houston-based team. The ideal candidate will have experience in the steel industry and a strong understanding of MTRs, quality documentation, and ERP systems. This role ensures accurate documentation for customer orders, adherence to industry standards, and coordination with suppliers and internal departments.
Responsibilities
- Review supplier MTRs for compliance before entering into the MTR system; communicate with vendors on discrepancies.
- Accurately enter MTRs into software and scan/save supporting test reports.
- Generate MTRs for customer orders in line with specific requirements and industry standards.
- Create coating certificates for fastener and industrial coating orders.
- Upload documentation to customer portals and respond to customer feedback as needed.
- Collaborate with internal departments on documentation issues.
- Ensure timely delivery of required documentation.
- Participate in SIGMA procedure training and adhere to SIGMA Quality Management and Safety policies.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Generate non-conformance reports and assist in creating Corrective and Preventive Action Reports.
- Support additional projects as assigned.

- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Effective communication skills and professional phone/email etiquette.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and troubleshoot independently.
- Experience with MTRs, ERP systems, and the steel industry is required.
- Must pass a drug screen and background check.
- Flexible with work hours and scheduling as needed.
Nice-to-haves
- Understanding of basic math and chemistry is preferred.
- Prior experience handling mill test certificates and working in a quality documentation role is strongly preferred.
