About The Position

The Mine Geologist is responsible for the ore routing decisions and other geology related tasks for open pit operations. Ensures that minable polygons are created and sent to mine operations in a timely manner. Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure successful development and execution of mining plans and improve ore body knowledge.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Geology or equivalent
2+ years’ experience in the mining industry
Strong interpersonal skills, ability to influence and impact in a dynamic, multitasking environment with competing priorities and a high level of cultural awareness and sensitivity
Must be able to work at high altitude

Nice To Haves

Experience with Mineplan, Leapfrog and Acquire software packages preferred
Ability to build and maintain a strong communications network with planning peers, managers, project directors, and corporate leaders

Responsibilities

Using Mineplan and Orepro software packages create ore control polygons based on blast hole sampling data.
Ensures that representative blast hole samples are obtained by drillers and are delivered to the on-site lab in a timely manner.
Complete high wall and blasthole pattern mapping.
Manage blasthole sample QA/QC program.
Work closely with process team to monitor permeability of the valley leach pad facility.
Monitor fragmentation and blast ability index information for durability and ore routing.
Provides support to mine operations in making selective ore and waste routing calls.
Engage with mine technical services, mine operations, exploration, and process to build ore body knowledge.
Work with the mine site geological, geotechnical, metallurgical, geostatistical, and sustainability and external teams to align, consult and inform on key work package deliverables.
