About The Position

The Mine Front‑Line Supervisor reports to the Mine Superintendent and is responsible for leading, coordinating, and monitoring daily underground mining operations to ensure safe and efficient production. This role provides direct supervision to mining crews, supports continuous improvement, enforces safety standards, and ensures compliance with mine plans and regulatory requirements. The schedule for this position is 14 days on and 14 days off at the mine site, which is located approximately 45 miles north of Juneau and accessible only through company transportation.

Requirements

  • Ability to work safely and promote safe behavior in others.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a team-oriented mindset – being respectful, reliable, and easy to work with is just as important as technical skills.
  • Ten or more years of experience in an underground mechanized mine setting.
  • Candidates must have demonstrated success working safely, independently, assuming responsibility, and communicating effectively and professionally.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and communicate clearly (verbally and in writing) with all mine site personnel.
  • Sets high standards for self and others, builds trust, and takes accountability.
  • Ability to work a 14 day on 14 day off, camp-based rotation.

  • Prior supervisory experience.
  • Preference given to Alaska residents.

Responsibilities

  • Stop work for safety concerns and abide by safety best practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Supervise underground mine development and production crews.
  • Encourage and foster a team environment by coaching employees on safe operations, interpersonal conduct, and policy compliance.
  • Comply with high environmental standards and coach employees on compliance.
  • Ensure proper utilization of mining equipment in an effort to optimize safe and efficient production.
  • Ensure that performance expectations and proficiency standards are met consistently.
  • Track and evaluate employee performance and job assignments.
  • Work collaboratively with cross shift supervisors and crews to ensure that equipment and tasks are properly set-up for the next shift.
  • Maintain workplace inspection log books, shift pass downs, manpower and production tracking sheets.
  • Communicate effectively with direct reports and employees of all levels in other departments.
  • Provide consistency in the application of Company policies, procedures, and training to ensure the safest work environment for employees.
