Under the general supervision of the Mine Manager and the direct supervision of the Mine Production Supervisor, Miner B performs at an extensive level and does a variety of manual labor and operating tasks in the mine. This person will perform all assigned process specifications and instructions safely and competently without assistance. The individual will report any malfunctions and abnormalities to their supervisor; ensuring that the machinery and safety equipment are in good working order and making sure that a high standard of housekeeping is maintained in their workplace. The miner must be task trained on all equipment and machinery used in daily work duties. All Requirements of Miner B Pay Tier: Proficient in at least 3 of the major mining requirements as assigned as well as all auxiliary requirements. Understand and follow all safety precautions for handling and using explosives Performs, under minimum supervision, tasks of substantial variety or complexity, which requires knowledge of processing techniques, tools, materials, machines, and equipment relative to salt mining Able to load faces and benches with explosives following a prescribed instruction with acceptable breakage results Able to direct labor, or crews on utility, or other mine services (ventilation, etc...) installation Firm understanding of the mining cycle, and coordination of various unit operations within a mining panel to maintain consistent production throughout a shift Regularly identifies and remediates hazards and changing conditions within the mine Inspect finished work and ensure required specifications are met Reference the following requirement guide Major mining requirements, B only (3 are required) Auxiliary requirements (all the following required) Mucking Material handling equipment Horizontal drilling Manlifts Vertical drilling Personal Vehicles Supplemental Shaftman Personnel carriers Mine Screen Plant Operator Scissor lifts Power scaling Utility Loaders Undercutting Bolting Powdering High reach scaling At Morton Salt, we work best when we work as a team, when we treat one another with dignity and respect, and value the unique contributions of others.
