About The Position

Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) is seeking a Mission Engineering Deputy Study Lead to lead a team of engineers and analysts in executing mission engineering studies. The primary worksite is in the Alexandria, VA area in support of the Office of the Undersecretary of War for Research and Engineering (OUSW(R&E)) Mission Integration. You will serve as the senior analytic member of a team of analysts, engineers, and modelers conducting Mission Engineering studies for OUSD R&E in accordance with the Mission Engineering Guide 2.0 (https://ac.cto.mil/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/MEG_2_Oct2023.pdf). In this role, the Deputy Study Lead will assist the Government lead in developing the study plan, identifying needed resources (personnel, modeling tools, etc.), socializing the study with stakeholders, executing the study, and authoring the final report. Responsibilities: Lead and manage a team in the execution of studies following the mission engineering process. Work with the mission characterization, architecture, and constructive analysis teams to execute the activities, develop the products, and synthesize results that answer Key Questions and meet evolving Joint mission objectives. This position will be 100% onsite in the Alexandria, Virginia area, with the possibility of local travel to customer sites and related engineering conferences/workshops. Your essential job functions will include, but may not be limited to: Development of study scope, Key Questions, partnering organizations, external teaming opportunities, and execution plans. Understand complex scenarios, vignettes, CONOPs, CONEMPs, measure derivation, and system-of-systems interactions to assist the team’s overall knowledge base and inform leadership. Understand Mission Architecture inputs, development, implementation, and connections to CONOPs, CONEMPs, and mission-level modeling & simulation (M&S) efforts for the system-of-systems architectures being constructed. Understanding of mission-level analysis objectives, tools, limitations, constraints, and how data and architectures feed M&S activities. Track progress, solve problems, identify risks, develop mitigations, maintain information flow to team and leadership. Develop Kickoff, IPR, and Final briefings along with Study final products. Synthesize raw analytical products into impactful conclusions and recommendations for senior government leadership.

Requirements

  • 7 years of experience in operations research with a focus on mission engineering, systems engineering, or operational analysis.
  • 5 years of experience conducting operational or mission analysis and trade-off studies to inform decision-making for capability development, system design, technology investments, or maturation of concepts of operations (CONOPS) or concepts of employment (CONEMPS).
  • 5 years of experience in a leadership or deputy role managing cross-functional teams in analyzing complex engineering and operational problems.
