We are seeking a Modeling and Simulation (M&S) Solution Architect to lead the design and implementation of advanced modeling, simulation, and digital engineering environments that support next-generation air traffic control capabilities. This role will drive the development of AI-enabled digital twins, system simulations, and decision-support tools used to evaluate system performance, operational scenarios, and modernization strategies across the NAS. The ideal candidate is a highly experienced technical leader with deep expertise in Modeling & Simulation (M&S), Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), AI frameworks, and aerospace systems, capable of guiding teams and mentoring engineers while shaping enterprise-level technical strategies. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related field with 16 years of experience, or Master’s degree with 14 years of experience.
  • Must have the ability to obtain/maintain a Public Trust clearance.
  • Proven expertise in Modeling & Simulation (M&S) and digital engineering environments supporting complex systems.
  • Strong background in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies and tools.
  • Experience designing and implementing AI/ML frameworks or Digital Twin architectures.
  • Demonstrated experience in aerospace, aviation, or FAA-related systems.
  • Experience performing risk analysis, system performance modeling, and scenario-based simulation studies.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing systems modeling, system lifecycle simulation, or operational readiness analysis.
  • Proven leadership experience managing or mentoring technical teams and direct reports.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with experience briefing senior technical and government stakeholders.

  • Direct experience supporting FAA modernization initiatives or NAS-related systems.
  • Experience with digital twin platforms, AI/ML simulation tools, or advanced modeling frameworks.
  • Familiarity with FAA systems engineering and safety assurance processes.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and lead the development of enterprise Modeling & Simulation (M&S) solutions supporting FAA modernization and BNATCS initiatives.
  • Design and implement AI-enabled digital twin environments and simulation frameworks to model NAS operations, system performance, and modernization scenarios.
  • Apply Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles to support system design, integration, and verification activities.
  • Lead technical teams and provide mentorship to engineers and analysts involved in modeling, simulation, and digital engineering efforts.
  • Develop simulation models and analytical frameworks to assess system performance, risk, and operational outcomes across complex aviation environments.
  • Integrate AI/ML techniques into modeling and simulation platforms to enable predictive analysis, scenario testing, and decision support.
  • Conduct risk and performance analyses using simulation outputs to support FAA program decisions and operational planning.
  • Collaborate with FAA stakeholders, systems engineers, and program leadership to translate operational needs into simulation-based solutions.
  • Evaluate manufacturing, system integration, and operational considerations through simulation to improve lifecycle planning and deployment strategies.
  • Provide architectural oversight for simulation infrastructure, ensuring scalability, interoperability, and compliance with FAA engineering standards.
  • Prepare and deliver technical briefings, simulation results, and architectural recommendations to FAA leadership and program stakeholders.
  • Support program strategy and business development activities by contributing technical expertise to proposals and solution development.
