DESE Research, Inc. is seeking qualified candidates to fill a Modeling & Simulation (M&S) Hardware Design Engineer position. Job Details: Design, Development, and Sustainment of M&S simulation platforms to interface with Next Generation Interceptor (NGI) Hardware in the Loop (HWIL) simulations. The successful candidate will enjoy working in a technically challenging environment with simulation framework developers; test event integration personnel; data analysts; and event planners, testers, and other stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain DoD Secret Clearance
  • 5 or more years of M&S hardware development and integration experience
  • Experience with development and integration of simulation hardware with commercial off-the-shelf (COTS)
  • Familiarity with Real-time Operating Systems (RTOS) and handling of analog and discrete signals
  • Knowledge of serial data transmission including Ethernet, RS-422, and MIL-STD-1553 as well as discrete and analog circuitry
  • Familiarity with electrical Specialized Test Equipment (STE) used to test Unit Under Test (UUT) Hardware in the Loop (HWIL) designs
  • Ability to understand complex system designs and troubleshoot issues
  • Familiarity with real-time simulation infrastructures is desired

Responsibilities

  • Develop and integrate GMD Element M&S hardware with Next Generation Interceptor (NGI) HWIL systems
  • Perform all Design lifecycle activities including requirements development, conceptual trade studies, detailed design, procurement, build, test and system delivery
  • Maintain electronic and electrical system requirements according to HWIL interfaces and contract requirements
  • Develops test plans/procedures/reports and supports the execution of test events
  • Conduct formal design trades and literature research
  • Review system designs through Models Based Systems Engineering tools such as Cameo
  • Identifies and resolves technical problems of significant impact to performance, cost or schedule
  • Ability to work well both independently and within a face paced team environment
