Molasses Department Helper
About The Position
The Ion Exclusion/Molasses Helper is responsible for assisting to operate the MDS plant in a safe, sanitary and efficient manner according to established guidelines. MDS is defined as the entire operation of molasses desugarization including shipping and receiving of molasses & all byproducts associated with molasses, and operation of the water treatment plant. Duties include but are not limited to: Works with the MDS Team to prepare the molasses and water for the separator including operating the molasses filtration systems. Maintains high quality water and molasses for the separator. Identifies and corrects of mechanical, operational, and electrical problems, requesting help if required, or may perform or direct other maintenance personnel in making repairs Diagnostic troubleshooting is required. Monitors Rosemont computer system; makes adjustments through a computer as needed. Collects samples from the process and completes and documents various lab analyses. Assists in ensuring all equipment is functioning and operating safely & efficiently. Maintains a clean and safe work environment. Dumps mud presses and sludge presses in a safe and efficient manner. Dumps filter aid bags into precoat and body feed hoppers. Runs filter pad checks on industrial filters. Moves filter aid from elevator to 3rd floor MDS. Accurately completes all required reports and recordkeeping (maintenance and operations) in a timely basis. Assists with the cleaning in all areas of and around MDS and water plant. Assists in submitting written reports for improvements to correct operational problems. Maintains a clean and safe work environment, disposing of empty bags and maintaining areas of around MDS and the water plant. General housekeeping duties. Performs various lab tests and analyses related to product quality. Assists operators with special projects such as back washing resin, sample taking and troubleshooting. Cross trains with Molasses Loaders in order to assist when needed. Performs other work as required by Ion Tech. Performs other duties as assigned. Works overtime as required.
Requirements
- High School diploma or a GED certificate is required.
- Able to read, write and communicate effectively.
- Forklift/palletjack Certification required.
- Must be able to reference, read and understand how to use MSDS information.
