About The Position

Setup molding machines, robots, and work cells as well as performing basic startups and minor trouble shooting of defects or press malfunctions. The position requires mentoring of Mold Tech Level One employees. This position includes RJG training provided by the company to support your professional development. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must have successfully completed all SMC Mold Tech Level One Requirements.
  • Minimum of 1-year experience in Thermoplastic/LSR machine set-up and completion of SMC set-up training program.
  • Knowledge of IQMS.
  • Knowledge of the material handling system.
  • Knowledge of molds and ability to clean them for production run.
  • Must be mechanically inclined and be able to work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to adapt to constant changes.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Some travel may be required.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English.

  • SMC Overhead Hoist certified.
  • SMC Pallet Jack certified.
  • SMC Lock Out, Tag Out certified.
  • Knowledge of IQMS.
  • Knowledge of the material handling system.
  • Knowledge of molds and ability to clean them for production run.

Responsibilities

  • Set-up Thermoplastic machines per procedures and start press off master process.
  • Set-up and start up robots with existing program, modifying program to pick parts safely and efficiently.
  • Set-up hot/cold runner systems and load program, ability to adjust if needed.
  • Set-up process monitoring equipment and load program, match template curves when starting the job.
  • Acquire and Record Process Parameters in SMC’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) IQMS Statistical Process Control (SPC) format.
  • Understand and verify proper mold protection settings based on Level 1 training.
  • Assure molds are inspected and properly treated (cleaning, moisture prevention) after product run; communicate mold problems and opportunities to tool room via Maintenance Repair Order (MRO).
  • Monitor the process, start up and shut down of assigned jobs.  Follow schedule and maintain machines running at documented cycle.
  • Maintain tour ready production floor.
  • Maintain a positive and respectful attitude.
  • Regular attendance.
  • Perform all requirements of Mold Tech One job description.
  • Act as back-up for material handler, mold cleaner, or wherever else assigned.
  • Operate molding machines as needed.
  • Perform screw and barrel cleans as required.
  • Setup of secondary equipment, to include, but not limited to end mills, hot stamping, pad printing, etc.
  • Set-up work cells according to work center layout in IQMS.
  • Maintain a safe, clean work environment.
  • Follow and adhere to all procedures as they pertain to the Mold Tech Level One position.
  • Support Silicone production floor, when needed.
  • Perform resin changes.
  • Perform other duties as required.
